The great social event of the season came oft last Saturday the 14th day of August at the home of Mr and Mrs Alfred Rees of the Third ward of this city at which time and place they celebrated cele-brated the GOth anniversary of their marriage Mr and Mrs flees arc natives of South Wales and are of the early pioneers pio-neers of this city There were about 100 guests present all of whom were old time friends and relatives of Brother and Sister Rees There were present friends from Provo and from Fairview and Wales in San pete County Supper was served at 6 p m Ahl that supper it was one of the best that culinary skill and loving cooks were competant to prepare There was everything on the table to be had in the market roast chicken boiled ham cheese pies puddings several kinds of vegetables salads etc with many other articles of diet too numerous to mention here all of which was prepared in a way to please the most fastidious appetite After the guests were seated Brother Reese arose and welcomed the company in n short but appropriate speech in which he thanked his friends for their presence and loving kindness Father Charles Monk acted as chaplain After supper light beverages were served in plenty and the early evening was spent in social chat When night came on a fine program was rendered which consisted of songs speeches toasts rectations and instrumental music Among those present were Mr Daniel King Jr and wife of Idaho also Alfred Recs Jr and wife from the same place Brother and Sister Rees have a large family of children and grand children The writer
