Show VERY SAD DEATH The sad news reached this city Friday Fri-day of the death of Mrs A A Pike of Park City formerly Miss Sara Johnson daughter of Mr and Mrs Goodman Johnson of the First Ward of which the Park City Record says There are times when words fail to express the sorrow of the heart the keen grief over the departure of a loved oneand truly this is the case today Death has again invaded a happy home and scarcely without warning turned joy into sadness by removing from Its sacred precincts a loving wife It seems cruel that such affliction should come and tear the hearts of loved ones but we must bow to the inevitable and bear the burdens placed upon us Aith fortitude forti-tude and courage Mrs Sara JohnsonPike wife of Mr A A Pike has been called to the mysterious mys-terious beyond Wednesday morning the lady complained of a pain in her side but no particular attention was paid to it and she performed her household house-hold duties as usual About noon she was taken with acute pains and suffered agony The doctor gave temporary relief re-lief and Wednesday night and Thursday the lady was very sick and Friday morning she was carried to the hospital where an operation was performed as a last resort to save a precious life She rallied from the operation yet her condition con-dition was considered so serious that but little hope was held out for her recovery re-covery and early this morning she passed pas-sed away Obstruction of the bowles was the cause of death Her only sister Miss Martha was with her when she was taken sick but went to the city yesterday afternoon to meet her mother who was on her way from Spanish Forkand both arrived in the city this morningand the grief at the sad intelligence that was conveyed I to them was painful for they had hoped to reach the bedside of their loved one in time for a word or at least a look of recognition It is indeed sincere and and heartfelt sympathy that goes out to the stricken husband the aged mother the devoted sister and absent brother God pity them and help them bear their sorrow Mrs Sara JohnsonPike was born in Iceland August 20 1884 yesterday being be-ing her birthday She came to Utah with her parents when quite young and settled in Spanish Fork She first came to Park City about two years ago in the employ Mrs H Farce she being an expert milliner On July 16 1908 she was married to Mr A A Pike residing re-siding in this city since that time Mrs Pike was possessed with a beautiful character and won the esteem I of all who had the pleasure of meeting II her She was I devoted wife and to the children of Mr Pike she was fin I i ideal motherloving and caring for I them as her own and having their love and confidence in return and today their little hearts are nigh broken because be-cause of her taking away It Is Indeed a sadc aseand the sympathy sym-pathy of the entire community goes out in full measure to the bereaved ones The burial took place at Park City Wednesday afternoon at 230 oclock |
