infection of discharges from all cases of typhoid fever The disease originates origi-nates solely In the germs given off in the excreta which if not destroyed by disinfection are liable to be convened to food products and water and endanger endan-ger all who consume them It is nl simple matter to disinfect the discharges dis-charges and render them harmless and j the law requires that this shall bo done I by the persona having charge of the I case in accordance with the rules of the 1 State Board of Health and further I that the physician in attendance shall personally satisfy himself that proper disinfection is performed Health officers should also visit the ease when reported und at such other times as they may deem necessary for the purpose of Instructing the attendants attend-ants and enforcing strict compliance with the law If privies a e used for the disposal of the dioctawfos the con tents should be frequently covered with unslacked lime during the course of the disease and after recovery It should be remembered that the germs if undestroyed un-destroyed may be carried by seepage into wells and other sources of water and also by flies which become contaminated contam-inated und carry them to milk and other food supplies The fly is one of the most frequent carriers of disease germs and Is responsible for Hundreds of cases of typhoid fever in Utah All of the above precautions apply equally to the diarrhoea diseases of infants in-fants such as the deadly socalled summer complaint which is i an infectious In-fectious disease transmitted through the discharges in the same manner as typhoid fever Flies contaminated with the discharges of an affected infant in-fant carry the germs to the milk or nursing bottle etc used by other infants in-fants Especial care should be taken to exclude ex-clude flies from houses where ANY CASE OP INFECTIOUS DISEASE EXISTS Local authorities should recognize the importance of these measures They should properly compensate health officers for their services and require re-quire of them faithful performance of the duties as set forth Also neighbors and other citizens should cooperate reporting all cases of
