Show wwI 1 t t LUCINDAS I 1 EXPERIENCES Im the greatest ono to find things thnt over was Bald Liirliuln but I never lliul anything valuable And why do you suppose that Is People must loso valuable things dont they Why certainly but It doesnt seem to bo my lot to find that fort Other people find the valuable things nud all thnt I get Is what my brother Claude calls the Junk And the way I thud the brnss things Is nstonlslllng Its mostly baby plus thnt I find mid I discover them on the car tracks on the sidewalks and In the street everywhere In tact I see something glistening under the edge or n fence and I pick It up and Its another baby pin Beautifully Beautiful-ly carved and all that but worth nothing Sometimes tho pins I find thus arc new and bright sometimes old and battered but always they are worthless worth-less so fnr ns actual value Is concerned con-cerned Why do I never find a gold baby pin I did find ono onco thnt n jeweler said was ten karat filled tho nearest I hnve ever come to It but oven thnt wus of no money value Kings Why yes Ive found rings too Sapphire rings and turquoise rings and emeralds and once I found a diamond ring but the precious stones In these rings were nil of the same material namely glass and like the rings In which they wero cot of no value whatever And It has always been Just tho snub with the various other miscellaneous miscel-laneous Items of jewelry I have found The good things appear all to have been picked up before I come along nnd all the brass goods left for me and I certainly do find them And when Il comes to finding money Its just tho same Somebody else nnnenrs to flnd nil tho money Dont you know how you read In the papers how somebody found a pocket hook containing seven hundred and eightytwo dollars and ten cents And how somebody else found n pocketbook pocket-book containing eleven thousand dollars dol-lars and things like that Hut nothing noth-ing like that ever happened to mo somebody else always fluids tho hip 3ums of money I never found any money but twice In my life and once It was a cent and once a dollar The cent I kept the dollar I was very glad to bo able to give up within two minutes after I found It I was walking along a street when I found this dollar I spied It ahead of me lying on the sIdewalk und when I had come to It and picked It 1 up nnd found that It was a really and i truly good dollar bill 1 laughed to myself my-self gleefully 1 couldnt help It I had finally found something of value actual good money And then I wondered won-dered where tho dollar came from Walking on nlong tho sidewalk ahead of me was a little girl carrying a pitcher and of course all 1 could seo of her waR her back but she seemed to mo a pleasant little girl l and she seemed to be walking along gt cheerfully and then all of a sudden blip stopped short and seemed to get sort of stiff all over right In a Jiffy t and then she turned around nnd started start-ed back toward where I was and now she was crying and about as distressed a little girl ns ono could ever expect ts to see and of course I knew what was the matter with her now sho had lost a dollar When she came along to where I waR I saId to her Whats tho matter my dear and sho answered very tearfully tear-fully and solemnly Ive lost a dollar Well dont you worry any moro mare over that my dear I said to her here It Is And I handed It over to her and my gracious Ive seen a few quick kw chances but I never did sea shadow wd succeeded by sunshine quite so suddenly sud-denly ns It was now on this little girls face and I know that I got more fun out of giving the little girl l back her dollar than I ever did out of any little thing In my life But really now why Is It do you suppose that 1 find so much of that stuff that my brother Claude calls the junk but never anything of value |
