The house-to-house canvass by the members of the special women's committee com-mittee was launched with big success today. The report of the amount of subscriptions will be made Saturday. With the returns for the day incomplete, incom-plete, the general committee announced tonight that the total for the district would exceed $20,000. It Is stated that from the great, amount of interest taken in the drive, they will all turn in perfect scores. Plans were completed this afternoon for a grand finale of the Red Cross drive in this city Saturday night with a parade. -The movement was started .by the local members of the Moose 5 . lodge, who announced that they would secure the largest flag in the world and would feature "throw your money on the flag." There will be a number of other flags carried to "collect the money thrown by the persons along the line of tho parade. The probablo lineup of the parade , was announced as follows: American flag, platoon of police, city commissioners, commis-sioners, fire department, Southern Pacific Pa-cific band, Red Cross flag carried by Rod Cross nurses, largest flag, carried by legionaries, Weber academy band, Kagles' degree team, Woodmen of the World, Modern Woodmen of America, Knights of Pythias Qcgree teams, high school band and cadets, Scowcroft drum corps and other organizations of the city. The parade is to form at the corner of Washington avenue and Twenty-sixth Twenty-sixth street at 7:30 p. m. It will march north to Twenty-third street and coun-- coun-- .ter-march to Twenty-fourth street, thence west to Grant avenue, south to Twenty-fifth street and then to the union depot, counter-marching to Washington Wash-ington avenue, where it will disband. Arrangements are being made to stop all traffic, upon the street during the time of the passing of the parade. The committees announce that they desire to have the autos and street cars stopped, iu order to afford perfect per-fect safety to the people who will gather along tire line of march. The committees say they believe the pub-lie pub-lie will join in the spirit of giving if they are not compelled to dodge street |
