Show HEAVY INCREASE IN U. S. FOREIGN TRADE "WASHINGTON, April 10. Foreign trade statistics completed today by the bureau of foreign and domestic commerce com-merce show that exports for the eight months ending with February were valued at nearly one billion dollars more than those for the corresponding eight months of the year before. Imports In the same period increased by a quarter ! of a billion. Supplies for the allied armies continue ! to lead the export list in value of Bhip- i ments, with ever-increasing consign-; ments. Shipments of foodstuffs, of which ! the fighting countries bought heavily earlier In the war. were falling off. Values of exports for the eight months ended with Februarv are put at $2,542.-61.530, $2,542.-61.530, against $1,601,299,000 for the corresponding period of the year before. 1 Imports for the eicht months are given : as $1,201,000,000, compared with $1,- : j 056,000,000 the year before. j |
