Show CHIEF SHORES FILES ANSWER TO CHARGES Says Ordinance Was Complied With in His Appointment as Head of Police Department. Chief of Police C W. Shores'a answer to the action brought under quo warranto proceedings In the state supreme rourt to oust him as head of the police department depart-ment was filed with the court yesterday by the city attorney. The answer sets forth that the office of chief of police Is regulated by municipal munici-pal ordinance, adopted in 1913 and as amended in 1915, and that therefore the chief of police may not be removed through quo warranto proceedings on the ground that he is not a resident of the state. A copy of the ordinance is attached to the answer as "exhibit A." Continuing, the answer states that in the appointment of Mr. Shores as chief of police the ordinance was full complied with. The action to oust Mr. Shores was brought by former City Commissioner W. H. Korns, utilizing the machinery of the attorney general's office as provided In the statutes under quo warranto proceedings. proceed-ings.
