Jined the present plan to launch the , woman's party in Chicago for the pur- j pose of forming a political balance of I power to secure nation-wide suffrage immediately. im-mediately. "No party wishes to alienate the votes of any group of voters," said Mies Stevens. "Both parties are doing their beat to keep the support of the alien vote by emphasizing their neutrality. Just so we hope to convince them that it would be unwise to alienate the women's vote, with a possible strength of over four million." It was decided to strengthen the Utah branch of the Congressional union by enlarging en-larging its executive committee. The officers of-ficers now stand as elected today: Chairman, Chair-man, Mrs. Margaret Zane Cherdron; vice chairmen, Miss Kate Williams, Mrs. A. H. S. Bird, Mrs. W. H. Shearman. Mrs. Ernest Bamberger, Mrs. F. C. Schramm, Mrs. William Spry, Mrs. LeRoy ICccles, Ogden; Mrs. Edward Blchsel, Ogden; Mrs. Uly C. Wolstenholme. Mrs. Ida Smoot Jusenberry, Provo; secretary, Mrs. Charles Livingston, Jr.; treasurer, Mrs. P. S. Witcher. Mrs. L-ydia Alder opened the meeting with a brief speech recalling pioneer days in the suffrage struggle. She was a contemporary con-temporary of and knew Susan B. Anthony, An-thony, for whom the amendment Is affectionately af-fectionately named. Among the members who joined the union at yesterday s .meeting were Mrs. John Malick, Mrs. Albert R. Barnes, Mrs. A. H. Gibson. Mrs. Lydla r. Alder, Mrs. S. R. Thurman, Mrs. W. N. Williams, Mrs. I. R. Barton, Mrs. E. M. Garnett, Mrs. K. F. Root, Mrs. Emma F. Daft, Mrs. R. W. Madsen, Mrs. F. E. Bagley, Mrs. S. A. Stanford, Mrs. J. A. Magley, Mrs. D. H. Livingston, Mrs. George Williams, Wil-liams, Mrs. R. W. McTavlsh, Mrs. B. D. Nebeker. Mrs. L. Robertson and Mrs. P. H. Candland.
