Show TO DRILL CHILDREN ON "SAFETY FIRST" With the idea of avoiding accidents in which children figure, the traffic squad of the police department is preparing a list of suggestions which will be posted! prominently in schoolrooms of the city. The list gives a number of "don'ts." chief among which are: Don't play in the roadway at any time. Play on the sidewalk, or nearest playground play-ground or vacant lot. Roller-skate on the sidewalk, where vehicles cannot harm you. Never chase a playmate or ball across the street. Don't hang on automobiles, cars or wagons. Don't coast where autos, cars or wagons wag-ons run. Don't play around autos or wagons, or touch anv of their parts. Don't run around or behind cars or autos; there may be another car or auto approaching on the other side. Dook both ways before crossing a street. Cross the stieet at the regular crossings cross-ings and in the middle of the block. Don't cross streets diagonally. When in the business district, always obey the traffic officers' signals and commands. com-mands. When carrying an umbrella, don t let it obstruct your view. Always keep to the right and don't cut corners. Pass over crossings as rp'ickly as possible. Never fear a policeman. He will help and protect you. |
