Show CASE OF HILLSTROM MAY YET GO HIGHER Attempt to Appeal to United States Supreme Court Will Probably Be Made. Attorneys for Joseph Hillstrom, sentenced sen-tenced to "die October 1 for the murder of J. G. Morrison, announced yesterday that an eifort be made to appeal his case to the United States supreme court. What the grounds of such an appeal will be was not divulged, but it is understood un-derstood that they will pertain to the incident of Hillstroni having discharged his attorneys while his trial was in progress, it will be remembered that Hiijstrom created a 6cene in court by rising suddenly and ordering his counsel coun-sel from the room, remarking that there were too many prosecuting attorneys in the case, and"that he was going to get rid of two of them. The court retained the two discharged attorneys to act for the court in guarding guard-ing the interests of the prisoner, but on appeal to the ttate supreme court Hillstrom cited this retention of his attorneys at-torneys after he had discharged them as an abridgment of hi constitutional rights. The supreme court dismi-aed the contention as baseless, holding th;it the court had protected the prisoner 's interests to the utmost at every poiut. |
