The house was attractively decorated In pinlc carnationy and ferns. Guests were 1 entertained at eight tables at bridge, with a few others for tea. Tea was served at -mall tables. Assisting the hostesses were Mrs. R. A. Smith, Mrs. Richard Treanor, Miss Harriet Har-riet Hollt'V- Miss Grace "Wallace. Miss Pe-loios Pe-loios Stohl, Miss Louise I-I nelson and Mtes Lucilo Smith. A large dancing party was given by Mr. and Mrs. Solon Spiro at c'no Hotel Vtah last nigrht. The guests were received at S:3f on the mezza nine, followed by dancl n 5 In the ballroom and a late upper In the banquet room. The - ballroom and mezzanine were decern ted in palms, ferns and other potted plants. The orchestra on the balcony in the ball-, ball-, room was screened by plants. A dance for the benefit of local charities char-ities will be given this evening at the Odeon under the direction of the Native Daughters of Utah. The officers of the club, who have charge of the general arrangements, ar-rangements, are Mrs. Leslie H. Groes-heck. Groes-heck. president; Mrs. Oscar Peterson, vice president: Miss Emma Dykes, secretary; Mrs. Louis Watts, treasurer. The reception recep-tion committee is composed of Mrs. j-red naynefl, Mrs. y. w. Calder, Mrs. Emiiv Palmer, Mrs. Kate p. Shill. The entertainment enter-tainment committee includes Miss Emiley Platte, Miss Mary Nichols, Mrs. J. T. Gough. Mi s. Joseph Madsen. The decorating decorat-ing committee is composed of Mrs. Charles Piatts, Mrs. Maud Cottrel), Mrs. Cora Greenhalgh. Mrs. T. R. Parry will entertain the women of the Sons and Daughters of Wales society this afternoon at her home, 1231 East Third South street. AH Welsh women and their friends are invited. Mrs. Bernard Gill Knoth of Evanston, Wyo., will be the. guest of honor at a party given this afternoon by Mrs. A. W. Long at her home on South Main street. The Utah club will give the last in its series of dances for the winter this evening even-ing at the Hotel Utah. Mrs. Thomas "Wallis will entertain at ner home, 51S East First South street, with a crystal shower in compliment to Miss Lilac Bush, a bride of the early spring. i Miss Emma JJaddison arrived vesterdav aiternoon from New York, on her way to Ban Francisco to accept a position. Miss Maddison will be the guest of her sister, sis-ter, Mrs. E. M. Garnett, for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Garnett will receive informally in-formally this evening at their home. 125 P street, in compliment to Miss Maddi-c-ofl. who has many friends in Salt Lake. Miss Maddison was formerly connected with The Tribune and made her home in this city for a oomber of years. 4r The local chapter of the American Institute In-stitute of Child Life will meet this afternoon after-noon at 2 o'clock at the home of Mrs. s Kara Howell. "Household Management" will be discussed by Mrs. Bergin, "Art" by Mrs. J. F. Durin and a paper on France will be givem bv Mrs. Morse. v The art section of the Ladles Literary club will meet this morning at the clubhouse. club-house. Mrs. R. C. Pratt and Mrs. Clarissa Y. dpencer. n An enjoyable programme was provided by the Junior Girls' Friendly society of St. John's parish of the Episcopal church for the ladies at the Sarah Daft home last Sunday in honor of the birthday anniversary an-niversary of one of its members, Mrs. Miss Lilac Bush, who will "be married March 3 to Oswald Bush. Murphy of the , Mormon church were present and brougiit with them a choir of voices from one 1 of the ward chapels. An illustrated talk on Glazier park will be given by Dr. and Mrs. Mattill of the University of Utah. Mrs. L. R. Martineau will entertain with a tea Saturday afternoon from 4 until 6 at her home, 91S Logan avenue, in compliment com-pliment to Miss Wlnnifred Smith, who will be married soon to Mrs. Martineau's brother, Daniel H.
