Show PLHI HMS PROGRESS CITY Report of Inspector Moyle for 1913 Shows Year of Steady Growth. Plumbing installed In Salt Lake during dur-ing 1913, under permits Issued hy the city plumbing Inspector, Frank C. Moyle. reached a total cost of $400,000 In round numbers, an Increase of 535,000 over the total for 1013, according to Mr. Moylc'a annual report, submitted to the city commission yesterday. Plumbing fixtures Installed during the year totaled 6G30, as against 5070 for 1012, an Increase of 660. Desplto this, however, the total revenuo received by tho department for permits was only $2533.25, a decrease of $701.75, as compared com-pared to the rovenue for 1912. It cost tho plumbing department $(026.02 to operate during tho year, leaving leav-ing a halanco on hand from the appropriation appro-priation amounting to $241. 9S. Tho city Is to bo congratulated on tho condition that now exists here from the standpoint of sanitary plumbing, according ac-cording to the report. No other city In tho country can show fewer buildings In which modern plumbing has not been Installed than Salt Lake, It Is said. Mr. Moyle reports that the high cost of living Is not reflected in the plumbing business, declaring that while a general Improvement has been made In plumbing equipment, n 25 per cpnt decrease In the cost of construction has been made during dur-ing the year. He recommends the construction con-struction of another public comfort station, sta-tion, like thoso now in operation at Third .South and State streets, and the Installation of new lavatories In tho city side of tho Joint administration building. build-ing. The new plumbing ordinance, put Into operation during 1913, has met with universal uni-versal support and approval from local plumbers, according to the report, and has been the means of effecting moro standard plumbing construction throughout through-out the city. The report sets out that Salt Lako plumbing tlrms and plumbers, as a class, have co-operated with the inspector in the betterment or sanitary conditions In the city nnd In the enforcement of the ordinance.
