Show RUSH FOR CLAIMS IN NORTH TONOPAH An old-fashloncd rush took place yesterday yes-terday to tho country four miles nort.i of Tonopah, where somo good assays have been found recently, according to the Bonanza. Bo-nanza. Over a hundred locations were made soon after sunrise, but a good deal of the ground had already been taken up Saturday. The first Intimation of anything was about Friday, when it was reported that Potcr Wlnlkon. Dan TIanaman and Joe Monahan, who have been working a croup of clalm3 In what Is known as the Norf.i Tonopah district, liad been rewarded with oro running from $40 to $60 In gold and silver. The gold values were better than thoso found In the Tonopah district, but tho formation Is about the same as this camp. At a depth of twenty-five feet WInlkcn has a seam that appears to be coii3tnntIy widening, and the strength of tCic oro shoot Is so encouraging that othors were induced to make locations. The section Is about a mile north of the Tonopah laundry. Northern Tonopah was regarded with favor as far back as the early days of Tonopah. when most of the country was staked out. but the locators never kept up their work and allowed their rights to lapse, as they wore looking for hlg.i sradc on the surface and did not understand, under-stand, as it is understood now, that dcop mining Is the true source of wealth In this district and contiguous territory. |
