Show "CLEAN-UP" CAMPAIGN IS FAIRLY LAUNCHED Dr. Paul Discusses "Salt Lake as a Clean City" at the Hamilton School. Emphasizing the necessity for sower connections, clean milk, the proper disposition dis-position of garbage and the elimination of tho house fly, Dr. Samuel G. Paul, city health commissioner, addressed the parents of the Hamilton school district dis-trict in tho school building last night at their first meeting in the "cleanup" "clean-up" campaign. Tho subject of Dr. Paul's address was "Salt Lako as a Clean City." He declared that Salt Lake has "ono of tho best garbage systems in the world and that thero was no reason for not disposing of garbage except negligence. Hd also said that any city with a tv-phoid tv-phoid record could not bo termed "a clean city, and urged thnt flies and rubbish should not bo tolorated. Park Superintendent Nicholas Bv-hower Bv-hower spoko on "Snlt Lnko as a Beautiful City." Ho said that there wero thrco classes of towns, tho village, tho semi-modern city and the modern city, and insisted that Salt Lako belonged to the middle class. In support of his contention, conten-tion, he declared that no modern city would permit weeds in the st'reets, trees covered with scales, unkept vards covered cov-ered with chicken coops, nfbbish and old shacks. Tho meeting was largely attended, and considerable enthusiasm was dis-plaj'cd. |
