Show COPPED OIE BODY IN TJOPOMGO Ore Narrows Down, but the Logical Point Is Not Yet Gained. WORK YET TO BE DONE Large Body Mammoth Cop- per Ore Still Holds Out Without Stint. In regard to the streak of copper ore j found several days ago on the 1000 level j of the Opohongo, the Eureka Reporter ( atatea that it has narrow ed down. The I Reporler then continues. Jiincrlnlolwlpnt Cumnpl f.O.V is Still , pushing the drift forward, but the work which haw been done since tlie oro was located leads him to believe that It may be necessary to raise in order to get into the main portion of the ore deposit. The ore carrier about the same values as that which is being mined above the -00 level and is, of course, a portion of the main big vein from which the mine has been shipping regularly- for more than a vear The ore Is a black arsenical copper cop-per and occurs In a well defined fissure and It la In this fissure that Mr Cox Intends to commence raising. A few years ago, while the Opohon?o was being developed through the Blark Jack, another an-other fissure was cut at a depth of M00 feet, at which point is carried some very good ore and a drift was started a few days ago for the purpose of getting to this same fissure upon the 1000 level About 100 feet of work will be necessary to reach this point, but Mr. Cox is quite confident that this amount of work will result in the opening of a good bunch of The winze sunk from the 700 level is now down a distance of about forty feet, with a very good showing of ore at this depth. Two cars of ore mined from this winze were sent to the smelter a few days ago, and according to the mine assays as-says this ore carrieB better gold values than the ore which is being mined above the 700 level. Tintic Central Fissure. Superintendent Thomas Holdaway reports re-ports the usual development work gcrrhg on at the Tintic Central property. The drift which Is being driven toward the northeast at a depth of OfiO feot Is now about S0O feet from the shaft and within with-in the next 100 or 200 feet this drift will cut the big east fissure which waa opened upon the 870 level more than a year ago and which at that depth contained con-tained excellent ore Indications. One promising fissure has already been cut hv the drift on the 960 level, but the management i anxious to reach the main big Assure, and for that reason is crowding crowd-ing the work in the drift The face of the drift Is now In a decomposed lime. The large body of copper ore which has been stoped from the 700 level to a point ion feet above In the Mammoth mine Is still holding out vers' nicely, and while the present output Is about four curloads each wrek: Manager Samuel Mc-Intyre Mc-Intyre expects to soon be able to Increase In-crease this, as he is now nearlng this ore body with drift on the 500 lex'el. A report from the mine today Indicates . that the 600 drift will connect iid with the ore within the next few days, less than thirty feet of work remaining at this time. The Mammoth Is working the usual force of miners and the mine has a large amount of ore exposed, which Insures a heavy tonnage for a long time to come. Black Jack Ready. Over at the Black Jack property the hoist will be ready to go into commission agatn tomorn.w, the repair work having been completed. It is understood here that the worlc In the south end of the Bluok Jack will Include the continuation Of the drift which some time ago was started with a view to developing the Pragon Consolidated ground, recent work In the latter mine indicating that this drift v. 11! reach the ore with 200 or 2nn feet of work. The low-grade ore which is to be shipped from the old Star section sec-tion of the Biack Jack Is now exposed 'n that part of the mine which is above the 400 level. Only recently a large cave "as encountered upon the 300 level, and while It Is believed to carrv ore. no exploration ex-ploration work has yet been taken up. E. J Raddatz was In the district during dur-ing the early part of the week for the purpose of plaiting the Tintic Standard property. Job" Westrrdahl Is still drlv-Inc drlv-Inc a couple of drifts upon the 1000 level of thin mire, the work being handled under contract. The showing is said to be quite encouraging, although there has been no great change during the past fetr weeks These drifts are now cuttlnc through some very good looking limr-which limr-which carries sn.'tll quantities of quarts. One of the drifts la making out toward the east from the shaft and the other is being driven in a northeasterly direction. Yankee Dump Ore. The shipment of low-grade dump ore from the Yankee Consolidated bo been discontinued until the wagon road between be-tween the mine and the railroad is Improved Im-proved somexrhat. According to Superintendent Superin-tendent Mcrrlman, there is a large quantity quan-tity of the dump ore to he placed upon the market and another month's work will no doubt be necessary In order to make a complete clean-up. Ths development develop-ment work Is progressing nicely upon the lower levels of the mine. |
