The Now York police fear they havo another Dorothy Arnold capo on their hands. Miss Addio Mitchell, 35 years old, daughter of the late Caleb W. "Miiehell. a noted gambler and once president of the village of Saratoga, N, Y has been missing in this city since Monday. No trace of her is known to any of the members of her family. The girl had been living with her sister for nearly two months up to the time of her disappearance dis-appearance At the apartment, where the girls havo been living with Mrs. Mar.ioric Sheldon, it, is learned that MiSs Mitchell left tho house, in a taxi-cab about 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. She was expected homo for supper at 5 o'clock, but has not been seen or heard from since. Tho missing girl had no love affairs so far as her sister or Mrs, Sheldon knew. That Miss Mitchell had no intention of going away for any length of time1 is clear, her sister said, because she did not take any extra clothing with her. It is also "doubtful whether she had any money. Caleb Mitchell, the girl's father, was known throughout the country as n gambler, at which he is said to have made a fortune. In January, 1902, he committed suicide in front of State Sonator Edgar Brakott's office in Saratoga, where it was said he had gone with the intention of killing his foe. His two brothers and mother died by thoir own hand, and it was said that bo had been haunted by tho idea of suicide. |
