Show Jeppa Nielson Answers Summons Lending Farmer nnd Most Worthy Citizen Dies ut Advanced Age of 80 Years. Jeppa Nielson, one of Pleasant Grovo's leading citizens, died Wednesday Wednes-day morning, heart failuro probably being tho caus'o of death, though he has been suffering from n complication complica-tion of troubles for the past year. All of tho family, excepting his daughter, Mrs. D. II. Robinson of MantI, were at his bedside when tho old came. Mr. Nielson was born In Skann, Sweoden, October 28, 1824. Ho Joined tho Mormon Church In his native land April 5, 1871. Ho emmlgrnted to Utnh two years later, arriving In Salt Lake City on Pioneer Day, 1873. The following day ho enmo on to Pleasant Grove. Most of his life hero has been spent In Manila, where his farm was located, and where ho has always taken n leading part in public affairs. af-fairs. About two years ago he moved to Pleasant Grove. Ho was ono of tho most successful farmers in tho lccnllty, having also been u fnrmer befcro coming to America. Amer-ica. With Milan Attwood and John Heck ho formed the building committee commit-tee of the Manila Ward Meeting House and also was ono of tho lnrg-cst lnrg-cst contributors towards its erection. Giving freely to church affairs was one of his chief characteristics. After Af-ter helping to build tho Manila ward house, ho accepted a second mission to his native land at tho ago of soven-ty, soven-ty, and then on his return contributed contribut-ed towards paying off tho final debt. His first mission back to Swccdcn was In 1882, and the second was In 1904. Ho bnptlzed 40 souls on the two missions, 33 on the first and 13 on tho second one. Ho was a dovout Latter Day Saint and a forceful speaker both by oxomplo nnd by pre-copt. pre-copt. " Ho Is slrvlved by his widow, ono sou, Swen J. Nielson of Pleasant Grove, and three daughters, Mrs. L. L. Nelson of Provo, Mrs. D. H. Robinson Rob-inson of Mnntt and Mrs. Joseph W Thorno of Plensunt Grove. Tho late Mrs. N. K. Nielson of Sprlngvlllo who died three mouths ago, was also a daughter. Ho also leaves twenty-two grandchildren. The funeral services will bo hold tomorrow nt 3 o'clock p. m., and no doubt will bo largoly attended, |
