railroad company inquiring as to whether the road was entitled to the use of all the streets of provo city referred to the committee on judiciary judi cary A petition from daniel vincent asking for a mayors deed to a certain piece of property held in adverse possession by him for a number of yeara referred to the asked that the sum of hica as an additional per betit on hia license for two billiard tables be refunded in accor dame with the action by the council at a former granted JL petition from robert edwards praying for a mayors deed for a certain piece of property held in adverse poa by the petitioner was granted A plat of grand view addition to provo city was presented by Wm Helme and others with the request that the same be accepted referred to city attorney mr Henrich senin behalf of the commire on finance reported aa follows to the city council of provo city GENTLEMEN your committee on finance to whom waa referred the resolutions of councilor maiben asking the matter of raising means for the con si ruction of waterworks water works have duly considered the same and find that the revenue of the city is inadequate to meet any more than the current expenses and therefore recommend that the city be bonded to raise the necessary means for the construction of said waterworks water works and that the committee on judiciary with attorney be in strutted ted to draft an ordinance author izing the issuance of bonds aggregating the amount limited by the act of congress and all other things necessary for placing said bonds on the market and establishing etab lishing ft sinking fund for the redemption demp tion of the same E C henrichsen chairman mr maiben suggested that the ayes and noea should be called on this question as it was a very important one and every member should be placed on record in relation to it the ayes and noes were called for and every member voted in the affirmative mr maiben in behalf of the committee on fire department reported on the communication of tha ogden fire department part ment and recommended that the tahae cart offered for gale by them for ba purchased report adopted mr glazier in behalf of the committee on streets and alleca reported on the claim of the road supervisor amounting to 45 recommending the allowance of the claim report adopted and claim allowed mr maiben on behalf of the committee on judiciary judici utah valley gazette a statement id made editorially thai the present city council has since its organization fixed the salaries of its own membership ber ship and alie statement is false and we believe a willful prevarication of the in whole and in part therefore resolved that the writer thereof is un juat because untruthful to the city council and in our opinion he lacks the ordinary instincts of a gentleman in baltera of veracity and resolved that the editor of alie gazette be asked to a copy of these resolutions H J mr maiben had noticed that the editor of the gazelle had written as appeared in the resolution the salaries of the council were fixed by the former city council this council had established no salaries for themselves the salaries of the police officers had been fixed by the council and this was their duty the editor of the gazette had made certain which had not been fulfilled council had pur chabad a fire engine etc that fact to annoy c ur brother down
