Show A very sad case dr W II 11 pike ivas called to nephi last ly telegram to the serious condition of mr igaac gadd of that city mr gadd who is the son iu law of president aam of that cita lias been for some time past with an injury of his right knee how alie injured member became affected is not known mr gadd states that ho dont rc collert ever having hurt it but alie last four months it has continued to become serious necessitating attention and surgical treatment dr pike got in nephi last night and stated that to all appearance the leg would have to be amputated he said he would not undertake alie operation unless he had the patient under his care so arrangements were made for mr gadd s demov i al to this city and this morning ho was carried on a litter to the depot at nephi and blared in the baggage car of the utah central express arriving in this city at half past seven dr pike intends as won as the patient has beame rested to open and see if it is possible to split alic bone and take out the decayed portion if this ia impracticable he will amputate the leg midway between th thigh and the knee mr gadd is a bright young man of about thirty years of of age and has a wife and two children our sympathies arc drawn out in his behalf and we sincerely trust ho may of his affliction without the loss of his limb |
