Show CITY COUNCIL A number of claims allowed committee reports adopted the city council met jast night in special session mayor dusenberry occupying the chair there were six members present A communication was read from sturges bryant hydraulic engineers enci of salt lake offering to furnish plans for water awater a works system for the sum of it transpired that the writers did not wish the letter presented unless it was decided to establish a system of water works and the letter was withdrawn mr scott reported favorably from the committee on streets and alleys on petition of john M daly and others the committee recommended that fourth street between J and H be drained the report was adopted mr acott also reported favorably on petition of A watson and others asking that H street between ath and beabes mill be put in repair adopted mr scott also reported adversely on petition of albert davis asking to be reimbursed imbur sed in the sum of for repairing a certain roid the committee reported that the road was the city limits the committee reported that the road was outside the city liC tits the repart was adopted mr scott also on the report of the city surveyor in reference to the road running near by J C baums the committee recommended that the old survey and location be disapproved and the road be relocated the present road being impassable the report was adopt ed A fourth report was read by mr scott from the streets and alleys committee anthe petition of ane utah sign and stencil company in referenda refe renca to the numbering of the streets he committee recommended that the petition be not granted mr scott stated that it was thought by the committee that provo was scarcely metropolitan enough and tho treasury was too low to admit of the luxury at present the mayor asked if it was not understood that the persona given the luxury would not have to pay for it to this mr scott replied that he did not know but thought the city would have to beir the expense if the system of numbering was adopted the report was withhold for the present A fifth report was read by mr scott on petition of canby scott and others asking that certain points on first street be drained tho petition was presented to the council two years ago but the committee had only just considered it the report was adopted the following cladma were presented and allowed J F westfall for work on well sun foundry machine co 16 maiben co committee on cemetery 6 50 H conover 10 committee on irrigation 37 JoB S strong nominated geo W gee as deputy by communication read by mr farror the nomination was on motion approved mr brawn moved that the taxes paid for keeping in repair the streets b expended under the direction of the committee on streets and alleys carried adjourned |
