Show STABBING affray coroner gaii of odan kills A lamentable occurrence occur renco took place monday afternoon some two or three miles south of ogden the facts as near as they can be learned are as follows wm bybe e of uintah had a herd of sheep near the spot which he was attending coroner mark hall of ogden bowding some land at that place complained to mr bybee for permitting his sheep to run on halls land eprom words they came i to blows mr mr hall and smocking him down while mr bybee who is a much younger and larger man than the coroner held the battor down and was assaulting him mr hall drew his pocket knife opened it and jammed the blade into I 1 his antagonists stomach three times one of the wounds pierced the liver and the others the bowels mr hall gave himself up to the officers and mr bybee was given surgical assistance both men have borno good characters mr hall having been a resident of ogden for nearly forty years and possessing the esteem of the community on tuesday 2 p m mark hall who the day before stabbed wm bybee was taken before commissioner L B rogers for the purpose of awaiting developments in the case of the wounded man the examination was carried over until today to day at 2 p m in the federal courtroom several witnesses who were present were notified to appear at that time some discus i sion arose as to the amount of the bail to be furnished it was finally placed at john N tanner jr and A W child becoming securities the wounded man was in a very critical condition in the forenoon but seemed to be improving some in the afternoon his respiration and bis pulse he has made a deposition of the affair those who heard it consi derit a fair and truthful statement as he 1 did not seek to screen himself or hide his own sayings and chions in the matter on wednesday evening at about 7 coroner mark hall was rearrested by deputy marshal bynm on a charge of murders william bybee the stabbed having expired that afternoon the prisoner was failed and appeared before commissioner cross thursday at 10 a m byrees deposition has been taken and an inquest i was held over tho dead mans body today to day |
