Show A GOOD MAN GONE andrew ferguson of spanish fork his last on banday last Brother audrey guon died at his home is spanish fork at ohp ripe age of nearly 70 years deceased casborn was born ht near glascow scotland september 6 1818 baptized into the church of jesus christ of latter day saints september 22 1844 ordained an elder and appointed to preside over the euther glen branch 17 1847 he was called to preside over the dundee conference january 1 1853 where he labored for one year and then was appointed to preside over the preston conference on the ast 1st of january 1855 he was released to emigrate to america landing at philadelphia on the ard 3rd of may and arrived in salt lake city september of the same year he was ordained a seventy june 21 1857 and was on the ard 3rd of may 1868 ordained one of the presidents of the fiftieth quorum which position he held to the end of his days on the ath of april 1879 lie was called on a mission to europe and on the of september in that year was appointed president of the dundee conference where he labored assiduously and with astonishing vigor notwithstanding his advanced age he returned to utah in the fall of he was prominent in public affairs having served a number of terms as justice of the peace in spanish fork precinct also one term as alderman of spanish frok city and held various positions sit ions all of which duties he performed with the like characteristic zeal and determination on the dinst he died in spanish fork city at the ripe age of sixty nine years five months and thirteen days he was the father of eight children had thirty seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren he has been faithful to his trust and doubtless a glorious crown awaits him in the celestial kingdom of our god the following resolutions of respect have been passed to his memory by his quorum the members of alie fiftieth quorum of seventies have in the death of our beloved brother andrew ferguson sustained the loss of an earnest and energetic president whose love forthe for the work of god and interest in the welfare and advancement of quorum seemed to be tho most prominent characteristic of his lilo be it therefore revolved that by his death we have lost a wise counselor a faithful member and a dear friend and resolved that we as a quorum extend to alie family and relatives of our esteemed brother our sympathy and condolence and pray god to bless them in the hour of their affliction and further resolved that a copy of these resolutions be presented to the bereaved family and one copy be forwarded to the UTAH ENQUIRES for publication and that they be spread on the minutes of the quorum THOS C MARTELL committee LEWIS in behalf of NICHOLAS SMITH the quorum SPANISH FORK FEB 21 1888 |
