Show BIG OUTPUT OP THE LEHI SUGAR FACTORY Special to The Tribune. LEHJ, Feb. 7. The Lehl sugar factory closed its 100S-D campaign last night. Approximately Ap-proximately 27,000.000 pounds of white, granulated Gugar waa sacked, the major part of which Is stacked up In tho big warehouses at tho factory awaiting orders or-ders to bo shipped to the lnter-mountaln states and Missouri river points. A few over 131,500 tons of beoUs wero cut. which shows the extraction of sugar to havo been a littlo loss than in recent campaigns. cam-paigns. Thoso 131,500 tons of beets camo from 10,000 acres, which Indicates that the yield was a little over thirteen tons per ncro, which Is a littlo over tho ton-year average. Over a half million dollars was paid to tho two thousand farmers of Utah. San Pete, Sevier and Wasatch counties, who raised tho beets and who wero generally satisfied with tlio season's crop. Tho run in the mill has been rather prolonged owing to a number of stops occasioned by tho fall rains making It difficult for tho farmers to get the beets harvested. During the campaign the centrifugal cen-trifugal machines wore all equipped with patent evacuators, the Invention of Eu- j geno Roberts, a machinist in tho factorv. These evacuators enabio three men to do tho work of five and do it In less than two-thirds of tho timo. Quite a number of tho employoes who havo boon conducting con-ducting tho run will still bo retained, and commence at once to overhaul tho marhinery and mako a number of Important Im-portant changes, chief among which will be the installation of mora crystal-llzers, crystal-llzers, centrifugal machines, otc, to enable en-able tho syrup end of tho plant to keep up with tho other end. Contracting for beets for tho next campaign will commence soon, and tho outlook is that tho farmers will want to grow more beets than the factory can handle. |
