Show GOOD TEST OF ARMAMENT Resisting Power of Cruisers Is Amply Demonstrated. The damage done by tho 'bursting shells was localized within tho compartment where the explosion took place, and while the damage to both personnel and mntorlal within the com- 1 partment would undoubtedly have been very great, the ship, as a whole, would havo been Intact at tho conclusion of tho "As a final test, a twelve-Inch shell was exploded within a closed coinpartmont, just above the armored deck. Tho local effect of this was considerable, but tho armored deck was not penetrated." |
