Pneumonia and grippe have spread to such an ex- I tent in this city as to be practically epidemic There are at present about 300 ' ' H cases of pneumonia in Bellevue hospital, and other hospitals have a proportion- ate number. H Pneumonia has attacked persons in all stations of life. The mortality among jH thc poor is almost unprecedented and the number of deaths among the well-to- I M do is unusually large. t 'jH Tests are being made in several hospitals in this city to ascertain If the grippe bacillus is present in thc cases diagnosed as influenza. At one ho5pital H the bacillus was found in nine out of every ten -of the respiratory cases.
