change Two I of the largest events of the week were the reception at the First Congregational f Congrega-tional church on Tuesday evening and I the dancing party at Christensens on Thursday evening There were any I number of Halloween parties the beautiful beau-tiful luncheon at the Commercial club t on Friday a few afternoon card parties par-ties and a number oC informal luncheons t lunch-eons and dinners The Theater was nightly an attraction during the week but the concerts at the First Congregational I Congre-gational church at the First Methodist ie church and the series of lectures at the t Ladles Literary clubhouse were all well f patronized by society people and the week as a whole was anything but dull Ii In Honor of Miss lavell I One of the most beautiful luncheons l given in Salt Lake In a long time was i that of Friday when Mrs Alexander H i Tarbet entertained in honor of her I guest Miss Lavell of California The table was laid In the private dining room of the Commercial club was in the shape of a horseshoe and was elaborately I elabo-rately decorated with pale pink chry Eanthemums and American Beauty roses A mound of these t flowers combined com-bined with ferns and plumosa extended the fiill length or the table within a few inches of the edge on either side Clusters of the roses were used for favors fa-vors and the place cardH were figures of I Colonial maidens daintily done in I water colorH Candelabra shaded In red graced the table while a mrss of palms formed a pretty background for the guests who were Mre Kearns Mrs IJeber M Welle Mrs Thursday evening when I Dr and Mrs Snow Dr and Mr Wright and Mr and Mrs George Read Jr entertained between 500 and COO friends at a dancing party Palms and cut flowers In great prolusion were used in the beautiful decorations many of I the palms forming a bank In the alcoves I and a screen for the orchestra stationed at the opposite end of the hall In the I northeast corner of the room a punch table was arranged clusters of white grapes and vats of white cosmoi formIng form-Ing the decorations Deep red dahlias with candelabra shaded in the same color were seen in the small room to the east 01 the main hall and here refreshments re-freshments were served in buffet fashion The hosts and hostesses received re-ceived their guests in the alcoves to the left of the main entrance Wedded in Helena Last Wednesday evening at the home of the brides mother in Helena occurred oc-curred a marriage of very great Interest inter-est to Salt Lakers that of Miss Pearl I Davonyort und Duncan McVlchle of this city About a hundred guests were present at the ceremony which was I performed at 830 oclock by Rev W W Love rector of SL Peters Episcopal church Owing to a recent death In the family of the croom the elaborate church wedding originally planned was I abandoned Gorgeous pink chrysanthemums palms ferns and other greens formed the magnificent t decorations The bride wore a beautiful gown of white satin made en trnlne and trimmed with dAlencon lace A veil of sheerest tulle was fastened to the hair with a diamond dia-mond brooch a gift from the groom the veil fulling to the hem of the gown Mrs Clifford IL Pearsall of Salt Lake was matron of honor Her gown was of white ercpon over pink silk and with It she wore a veil of pink tulle and carried pink chrysanthemums E L White of Boston was the best man and the ushers were E C Day R A Luke G R Melton of Helena and C A Davidson Da-vidson of Butte The bride presented the ushers with gold scarfplns set with pearls and from the groom each received re-ceived a unique bronze matchsafe After a months visit In California Mr and Mrs McVlchle will return to Salt Lake to make their home and will receive their friends after l December 35th at 702 East South Temple street Delightful Reception On Tuesday evening at the First Congregational Con-gregational church a large reception was given by l the ladles of the church in honor of their new pastor Rev Elmer El-mer I Goshen The reception parlors were made beautiful with numerous palms and ferns and many vases of I pink und white chrysanthemums were I used In the alcoves and one the tables The receiving party consisted of the officers of the church with their wives i and stood In the alcove on the east side of the parlor which was very prettily arranged with palms and pink chrysanthemums chrys-anthemums Delicious refreshments were served from the tables on the opposite op-posite side of the room which were adorned with silver candelabra and pink cosmos All the
