auspices Miss Lillian Keith and Lieut Albert Cooper Allen were married last evening The event was a most elaborate one In every way all the appointments combining com-bining to make It one of the notable social affairs oC the year The ceremony cere-mony look place at 7 p m at the new and handsome residence of Mr and Mrs David Keith of 529 East South Temple street the bride being tho daughter of Mr Keith Promptly at the hour the groom and his best man Samuel S Porter entered the drawing room where slood Bishop Scanlan and tho assembled guests The orchestra played the Mendelssohn wedding march and the bridal party with measured tread came down the windIng wind-Ing stair First In thc procession walked little Mary Woodward and David Keith Jr dressed In the dainti est way Then the maid of honor In u stylish decollete gown of pink organdlo over pink silk then the bride 6n the nrn of her father The brides dress was an exquisite creation of white Liberty Lib-erty chiffon en tralnc with high neck and long sleeves The bodice and flounce were of rose point lace Her tulle veil was clasped with n diamond sunburst and she carried a huge bouquet bou-quet of brides roses Bishop Scanlan the groom and the best man awaited tho bridal party in the southwest cornet cor-net of the drawingroom and after all had formed an artistic grouping the ceremony was performed tho bishop ending the service with kindly words of advice and congratulations Then all pressed forward to offer their good wishes to the newlywedded pair While the ceremony was being performed per-formed the Christensen orchestra played In subdued tones the Intermezzo from Cavallerla Rusticana and at the close the low cadences were changed to the joyful strains of the Lohengrin march ARTISTIC DECORATIONS The decorations were upon a scale of artistic arrangement seldom equaled at n home wedding In this city Red white and blue was the scheme in tho c1wlnSrool this being the most interesting in-teresting part of thc house as the ceremony cere-mony was here performed Flowers of the two colors apd white were prettily arranged and the southwest corner ec banked with palms and potted plants From the chandelier to the corner and InQludlng the south and west sides were < stretched broad satin ribbons of red white and blue and smilax and In the center of the floor space were two white satin pillows monogramed At tho extreme rear and high up hung a United States flag seemingly painted In waving folds When the ceremony was being read an electric current was turned on and the flag was lighted up with a myriad of small globes a different differ-ent row being used for each fold and each fold being Illuminated separately After the four folds had been lighted tlic whole flag gleamed and so on alternating al-ternating throughout the ceremony the effect being novel and very pretty Thc spacious octagonal hall was In green and red the polished woodwork being tastefully festooned with smllax and tho mantel being decorated with red roses The library was in yellow j and the diningroom daintily arranged 1 In pink and white Tho center table and sideboard were elaborately decorated deco-rated with pink and white roses and carnations and the use of pink bows of broad satin ribbon was quite effective effec-tive Mrs M S Woodward originated and carried out the clever Idea of decorating deco-rating with her usual taste and on all sides were heard complimentary remarks re-marks as to the design and general effect I S ELABORATE WEDDING FEAST At the conclusion of the ceremony I the guests were Invited to tho dlnlng loom where an elaborate wedding repast i re-past was served while tho orchestra continuously rendered a fine pro I gramme of classic music and olden time airs with one or two reminiscent waltzes and a few popular airs by request re-quest It was all very Informal unenjoyable un-enjoyable The guests were Mr and I Mrs Thomas Kearns Miss Kearns Mrs M Judge Miss beautiful presents of silver cut glass and other suitable things including I includ-Ing a gcnerous check from the brides father At 11 oclock LleuU and Mrs I Allen left for San Francisco under a shower of rice and good wishes I The bride Is the daughter of David I Keith and a great favorite here since I her debut In society a year ago Tho I groom Is 1 Lieutenant In the Thirty I eighth Infantry U S A and haM served with his regiment In thc Philippines Philip-pines At present he is ordnance ofllcor at the Presidio but It Is quite likely that he will be again ordered to thc Orient and that his bride will accompany accom-pany him He is a gon of MaJ Allen and Mrs L C Allen formerly of Fort Douglas Both have a wide circle of friends who wish them all happiness In their new life 1 |
