Show HOUSE DAMAGED BY FIRE RESIDENCE ON STREET SUFFERS SUF-FERS FROM A BLAZE Damage to tho Building Which Was Occupied by John T Hodson f600 and to Contents 200 A fire occurred at the residence occupied oc-cupied by John T Ho son 135 B street shortly after oclock yesterday afternoon The fire started evidently from a defective fluq in the kitchen and caught In the woodwork between the ceiling and roof The roof of the building build-Ing which has seven rooms was practically prac-tically destroyed and the ceiling of the rooms was broken In at several places The loss on the house which If I owned by Mrs Anna Foote Is placed at GOO and the loss on the contents is j fixed at 260 with no insurance The apparatus from fire station No 4 and the steamer from No 1 were on the I scene a short time after the blaze was discovered but the flames had a good I start and they held their lead until the roof was well eaten away The firemen were placed at a great disad I vantage by the low water pressure I which at the time was registered at I i twentjvfive pounds Two streams of I I water and a chemical stream finally subduedthc lire while It was getting a hold on the woodwork below the roof Jhe greater portion of Mr Hodsons furniture and belongings were carried from the house escaping dahmge Mrs I Hodson and her children were away nt the time of the fire being at Coal vllle visiting friends The estimated loss of S600 on the house Is not covered by Insurance Mrs Foote the owner states that for ten years past the place has been insured and the policy ran out only two months ago Burning crass in a vacant lot from 12S to 138 East South Temple street set lire to the fence in front of the lot yesterday morning Fire station No 1 was called to the scene |
