Show IRON MOUNTAIN Mr Frew Talks Enthusiastically About the Prospects a a here Iron mountain Iron county upon which Is riveted the gaze of so many at this time may yet be known as copper mountain said Mr D J Frew who Is In from that camp yesterday Mr Prow antI E A Thompson with whom he is associated has a group of over twenty locations at Iron mountain and as the presence of Iron has already been established the owners began a search for other metals It was not necessary said the visitor to dig very deep to find what they were seeking and recently samplcu were taken from the zone that afforded much as 11 25 per cent copper 7 ounces silver and SIn S-In gold This ore has been uncovered in the ConiBlock the Homtjstake and Treasure Box claims and Is found on the contact between limestone and granite The eroppings on several locations loca-tions made by Mcpsrs Frew and Thompson gave as much as 4 1 per cent copper and while the extent of It has not yet bean determined the showing at a few feet below grjtss roots Is such as to Inspire great conlldence in it In places he has discovered that what appeared ap-peared to be Iron was copper while the rule thus far has been that wherever the iron comes In contact with the lime I copper Is encountered A big boulder of lead brought in by Mr Frew was also taken from the contact between the iron and limestone This Is I now on exhibition at the Scott Strevell Hardware company an assay from the piece showing as much as 70 per cent lead 30 ounces silver and 54 In gold As much as six tons of this class of ore was raised from one of the pockets In which the lead boulders occur oc-cur curMr Frew Is very enthusiastic over the prospects at Iron mountain and believes be-lieves It the foundation for a great mining mi-ning camp He leaves for the south again today |
