Show UNDER A MENTAL STRAINS Millss Appearance a Short Time Before Be-fore tho Shooting Joseph Hall n son of L E Hall the pievlous witness itstifled that he had known Mr Mils quite well during their i stay at Honolulu On the afternoon I of the tragedy at about 330 oclock Mr Hall was at the corner of Main and Second South streets the White house corner when he observed Mr Mills going west on Second South street Defendant passed in front of witness causing 1 wItness to slop In his wiilk lo slow him to pass Mr Hal recalled that Mr Mills had said thu the t-he would be in Provo thai week and turned to go and speak with him and find oul why he was In town and continued the witness I noticed that he was walking very fast and he carried car-ried hlsj shoulders In the peculiarly I direct way that he used to when he was on duly In the company and when I had reason to believe lhat he was under some mental strain He held his eyes straight In front of him and did not turn his head at all Witness testified testi-fied further that he was close enough to I defendant that he might have reached out his hand and touched him On crossexamination witness staled that he used to notice the peculiar position po-sition of MIllsB shoulders when he had charge of the guard mount or some thing lhat would make more of a difference dif-ference If a mistake were made that Is I when ho felt responsibility w a respons1bity upon him himThe court then adjourned until 10 oclock this morning |
