DIDNT GET THE JOB Youth Wakes Tip the Wrong Man and Strikes Him for Work The horse is on Theodore Davis Mr Davis retired to bed at his hotel Tuesday night very very tired He had been rustling hard all day trying to find some wary woolgrower ready to sell and did net Intend to rise until noon yesteray But at 630 a in plug ping ping went his bell and word was telephoned that a gentleman was In the ofllce to see Mr Davis Now Davis thought sure this must be a wool grower and after a violent effort managed man-aged to dress and come downstairs half awake He was then shown the gentleman who consisted of an overgrown over-grown boy The latter approached Mr Davis phoepishjy with the request I see you were elected to the Council last night you couldnt give me a job could youNow Now Mr Davis is naturally a very pious man and not addicted to the hyperbolical forms of speech so highly current at the present day but when he realized how his sleep had been broken for a boy who Wanted a Job from A J Davis his emotions broiled over and he delivered an Impromptu address at the ofllce desk that will not be forgotten for many moons Then he went back to bed and tried lo sleep
