Show VARSITY EIGHTS Crews of Yale and Harvard Beady for Todays Battle New London Conn June 27 Once more representative crews of Yale and Harvard stand on tho banks of the I Thames ready to renew the battle for rowing supremacy Naturally with Harvards captain I who was the stroke and the best oar I 0 out of the boat with an Injured ankle I there Is tonight at the Yale quarters the I utmost confidence In the ability of the I Iscw Haven crEw to pull out a victory I tomorrow In the biff fourmile race between be-tween thp Varsity eights Still there Is a grim determination at Red Top tho Harvard quarters to do or die and there are not a few tonight who be llevc that this doggedness will win the race In the regatta as a whole there hardly seems to be the usual amount of Interest Inter-est and enthusiasm this year The Incoming In-coming trains this afternoon failed to deposit the crowd of undcrgraduates I which on former years has enlivened the eve de the race All thjec of tho races are planned as usual to be rowed down stream with the tide which at the time will have ebbed about three hours and be running strong The fouroared crews will be sent away at 1140 at the beginning ot tho course across the river from the Harvard quarters at Red Top The crews will pull two miles down stream and finish at the navy yard Immediately afterward the freshmen will start at the navy yard and finish under the big railroad bridge a distance of two miles The observation Lrnjns which will hfjve followed the crews down the course will then hurry back to Red Top and about noon the Varsity eight will start and pull down stream for four miles The crews rested today the work being very light |
