There are many comments In Eastern East-ern papers upon the popularity of cycle I racing In this city All the big moots in the East have proved failures Promoters Pro-moters have not been able to stimulate the sport no matter how many of tho I champion riders of the Country they secured for their meets and In many other ways the sport lacks the usual Interest Then again many of the best I riders have left the country for Europe where they will compete In the national championships at the Paris exposition and the racing suffers In consequence I In competition racing and the making oC fast times Salt Lake leads the world I today It Is very seldom that open competition races in tho East can even be compared with our racing Eastern tourists who arrive dally and see the racing are surprised at the class of sport given with practically all second class riders who with but one or two exceptions would be unable to win 30 cents on the national circuit In as many years MO John
