Show CHANGE I IN A CtJEED1 Presbyterians Favor a Brief Clear Statement of Faith Indianapolis Ind April IiDr M L Haines pastor of the First Presbyterian Presby-terian church of this city oC which Gen Harrison Is a prominent member and who eamc within a few votes of being elected moderator of the Prcsby Urlan church at the last general assembly as-sembly scfld tonight in reference to the proposed change In the Presbyterian creed creedFor a number of years I have been ian i-an advocate of a newer and shorter creed and believe that following the example of the English Presbyterian church a revision should be made I hope that at the coming mooting of the general assembly the movement for anew a-new creed will be pushed I believe that the great majority of our Presbyterian Presby-terian ministers and members would favor the adoption by the church of a brief clear statement of the essential principles of the Christian faith While I assent to the general system sys-tem of the doctrine of thc confession of faith I objectdecidedly to certain misleading mis-leading jjlatoincnts In It which seem to teach fatalism I feel that this Is ian i-an opportune time to again push the movement for revision and believe that ut the coming general assembly It will I 1 be successful |
