Show HAD A ROYAL TIME Bishop Warburton of the First Ward Honored Last Night Bishop Joseph Warburton of the First ward was the recipient a testimonial tes-timonial last l evening that must have warmed tho cockles of his heart It was the occasion of his 70th birthday and very clore to tho date when he will have presided as bishop over the First ward for thirty years The First ward meetinghouse was lavishly decorated deco-rated for the occasion and 250 guests sat down to a banquet the like of which has seldom been seen on a simi lar occasion In this city Tho national colors were everywhere In evidence and the tables were beautified by as ters ferns and dahlias The organ was banked by palms Miss Gertrude Musscr made the hit of the evening in her neat little speech presenting Bishop Warburtou with a goldheaded cane bearing a suitable Inscription and tho bishop was visibly moved as he uttered a few words In response Speeches short but pithy were also made by Bishop Winder President Angus M Cannon and Counselor Coun-selor Joseph E Taylor The musical programme was a very good one The following were the entertainers en-tertainers First ward choir Miss Eunice Chase Misses Lillian and May Vowles Miss Catherine SIddoway Prof George Careless Thomas Ashworth and Edward Pike who at Bishop War burtons special request sang near the close of tho entertainment and with I telling efiectr Know that My Redeemer Re-deemer LIVeth The committee who had charge of the entertainment was composed Mrs Ellen Smith Mrs William Camp bell Mrs Emily Heeton A O Mlllor I Reuben Squires Neils Rasmussen and John T Thorup |
