Show CONFERENCE ABANDONED GOVERNORS OF AID STATES NOT COMING TO SALT LAKE Gov Richards of Wyoming who Issued Is-sued the Call Has Called the Proposed Pro-posed peering Off 1 f TRIBUNE SPECIAL Cheyenne Wyo a 1L Tonight Goy De Forest Richards mailed the following letter to the Executives of I the several States and Territories in the I arid and semiarid regions I regret to report that by so few Governors promising to attend the Salt Lake City convention on the 17th Inst I have thought best to indefinitely I postpone the meeting I do this however how-ever believing the Governors oC the Western States and Territories are sleeping on their opportunities when they fall to assemble to discuss some of the proper policies to be adopted by those of us living in the arid and the semiarid region bearing upon this momentous mo-mentous question and trust that enough Interest may be awakened at an early day concerning this matter s that It may be thought best for some of us at least to get together and try and find n common ground upon which we can stand for our best Interests GOY Richards feels badly over the matter lie says that something should be done there should be some united action taken with reference to irrigation irriga-tion and landleasing matters Congress Is bound to do something soon and this Salt Lake meeting should have been held In order that the wants of the Western people could have been properly prop-erly presented Gov Richards feels kindly toward Gov Wells for his Interest in the proposed pro-posed conference Except the Governors Gover-nors of Utah and Colorado no others ference took much if any Interest In the con |
