Show RACE PROBLEM Address on This Topic Feature of Young Peoples Christian Union Denver July 27TIm forenoon session ses-sion today of the twelfth annual convention con-vention of the Young Peoples Christian Union of the United Presbyterian associated asso-ciated Reformed Presbyterian churches was devoted to conferences Meetings were held In four churches and the audiences lllled the auditoriums The programme was as follows Teachers and Teaching ledby Prof York of MInden Neb The Young People in Congregational Work conducted by Rpv B Foster of Omaha Stewardship Steward-ship conduqtcd by Rev J C Scouller D D Philadelphia Junior and Primary Work led by Mrs G G Wallace Omaha Neb The feature of the afternoon session convention was the address of Rev J Li Cook Athens Tenn a colored man on The Race Problem Mr Cook did not agree with Booker T Washingtons theory that literary and manual education edu-cation for the negro should gc together He declared that the idea of colonizing the negroes In Africa was out of the question He said he had no complaint to make regarding the refusal of whites to grant social recognition to his race Reoorts were received of the sectional conference held during the forenoon Rev H C Swearlngea of Allegheny Pa delivered an address on missionary work this Gvcnlncr |
