Show SUNDAYSCHOOL CLOSING I Proclamation of Board of Health Generally Observed The proclamation by the Board of Health relative to closing the Sunday schools yesterday was observed In some I churches and not In others The nonobservance i I observance according to the best Information I I In-formation obtainable was due to a misunderstanding I mis-understanding of the official status of I the situation Many people looked for a proclamation from the Mayor requesting J re-questing a general 1 closing and not see j I lug It either did not give the Hoard of Health proclamation special attention I atten-tion or overlooked It All of the Gentile Sundayschools except the English Lutheran suspended suspend-ed their schools for the I day the authorities au-thorities of two other Lutheran schools noticing the proclamation Just In time to suspend their schools In SL Marys Catholic cathedral even childrens Saturday Sat-urday choir practice was abandoned I although as the organist remarks All I those children went to the afternoon matlnee tho Theater In the Mormon church as Treasurer I George Reynolds of the Sundayschool union remarked It was the Intention to fully comply with the proclamation which was expected from the Mayor But as none came and very few noticed or were looking for any proclamation from the Board of Health theie was an uncertainty so that the bishop of each ward was left to himself In the matter mat-ter The result was that many Sun dayschool people who chanced to sec r the Board of Health notice remained away and while sessions were held In nearly all of the wards In a number tho attendance was light as In the First Seventeenth Eighteenth and Nineteenth wards while In others as the Ninth Twelfth Thirteenth and Twentieth wards the attendance was regular |
