Show SCHOOL 25 YEARS OLD COLLEGIATE INSTITUTE HOLDS S A CELEBRATION Anniversary of the Founding of the School Observed Last Evening Tributes to Founder Prof Coyner The twentyllfth anniversary of the 1 i founding of the Salt Lake Collcglatfc Institute was celebrated last evening at I the First Presbyterian church the lee tureroom being well hued with graduates grad-uates teachers patrons and friends of the Institution The early part of the evening was spent in an Informal way students i I I teachers and friends greeting each other I I oth-er and talking of bygone days Later however interesting reminiscences of the school and its founder Prof John M Coyner were given by Dr Wlahard Dr McNIece E B Crltchlow Mrs I AViiitc and Miss Jennie Simons Dr I Wishard and Ur McNIece spoke In terms of highest praise of Prof Coyner I and the work accomplished by 1 him in I the city and Slate for through those who hud como under his supervision In the school his inllucncu has extended I to all parts of the State 35 B Crltchlow who entered the school In ISTti told of his early recollections recollec-tions of the school and its presiding j genius Prof Coyner his remarks creating t cre-ating no end of amusement Mrs White and Miss Simons also students In the early days recalled memories of their school life which were much enjoyed Prof Caskev then outlined the plan for the real celebration of the occasion which Is to be held in June at which time Prof Coyner will be here Two receptions arc to be lucid l in his honor one to he a public function the other to be confined to graduates and more r Intimate friends of Prof Coyner f Prof Coskey stated that of course I Prof Coyner would be brought hero without expense to himself and ho J honed that friends of the institute 5 would contribute funds for that pur nose It was also suggested that a suitable present be made Prof Coyner III memory of the occasion At the close of the informal pro gramme refreshments were served and a social good time enjoyed |
