Show TO REOPEN SMALLPOX HOSPITAL I The Board of Health Considers it Necessary to Do So i A meeting of the City Board of Health at which there were present Dr King Dr Fisher and C P Brooks < was held yesterday afternoon at Dr Kings office The smallpox situation was un der consideration and the following resolution was adopted Whereas There has been an Increase of seven crises of smallpox In the city during tho last three weeks and there are good grounds for believing l moro cases will develop during tho coming fall and winter andWhereas Whereas The prevention of tho spread InS of this disease can be accomplished by a prompt Isolation and rigid quarantine only and It having been demonstrated that Isolation at tho homes of the patients pa-tients is Impossible and quarantine without with-out tho aid of the entire police force of tho city is Impracticable therefore bo It Resolved That tho Isolation hospital bo Immediately reopened for tho reception of smallpox patients nnd that all cases of smallpox be removed thereto whenever such removal will not endanger the life of tho patient The board discussed the advisability procuring a new pcsthouse and decided de-cided to refer to the Sanitary committee the proposition of obtaining an appropriation appro-priation to fix up tho old mill In SugarHouse Sugar-House ward for a quarantine station It was also decided In order to reduce the expenses of the board to procure the services of a medical student to take charge of the smallpox patients under the direction the Health Commissioner Com-missioner The question of putting In anew a-new crematory plant was referred loC lo-C P Brooks |
