be Well Pain Upturned However He Became Dc Jlrious and it Was Impossible to Save His life Sketch of His Carter u b Andrew C Brlxen who had been ill for a couple of weeks died at his home last evening ut S oclock lie had been ailing several days before he took to his bed two weeks ago with mi acute pain which was pronounced to be an inflammation of the bladder On Sunday lust the pain left him and It was thought that ho would be able to resume his duties in a few days That night however the pain returned and with such severity as to cause him to faint lie took to his bed again and soon became delirious A consultation of doctors was held and it was decided de-cided to await developments A couple of days passed and as there was no Improvement In his condition Din Pinkerton Beer and Richards consulted con-sulted and decided that an operation was absolutely necessary to relieve the patient who was apparently suffering from an abscess of the prostate gland Tho operation was performed at C oclock on Thursday evening and a great quantity of pus was removed It was known at the time that the chances for his recqyery were small as he had been delirious for several days I fw 4r p d I I 1yuiI and he had among his choicest possessions the photographs and autographs auto-graphs of all of the theatrical lights that visited this city It was at the Valley house that he first met his wife to whom he was married August 16 < X 1SSO At that time he was known as the yotrngoBt landlord In America After Af-ter giving up the control of the Valley he > engaged in several hotel pursuits and finally became host of the CHIt house This he managed for some time and then he retired to engage In speculation spec-ulation and other pursuits with the money he had accumulated He scarcely scarce-ly ever made a bad investment and asa as-a result grew quite wealthy JOINED MORMON CHURCH Three years ago he became Identi lies with the Brigham Young Trust company and was lately made Us manager man-ager which position he held up to the time oC his death He leaves besides his wife and boy his father Peter C Brlxcn Avho resides In Mill Creek and his sister Marie who arrived from Chicago last even ing Mr Brlxen had been most of his life an agnostic but his wife had always al-ways been a devout believer in the doctrines of the Mormon church So two years ago and just previous to the departure of himself and family on a mission to Europe he became a mere ber of the Mormon church and has since that time been recognized as be Infe In good standing The exact date of the funeral has not yet been set but it will be t cither on Tuesday or Thursday next as accord lag to his wishes some time before his death his body wilt be kept several days before being finally Interred HIS DREAD OF DBATLL A peculiarity of Mr BrJxen was his dread of death Not ns he expressed It of the fear of the future But he had seen his brother and his mother and other relatives snatched away just at the
