Show Merit Commission Rules Brady Can Keep Deputy Status C. W. (BUCK) BRADY The County Merit Service Commission this week approved Salt Lake County Commissioner C. W. Brady as "legally on leave as deputy sheriff." Two other men, J.- Gordon Browning, administrative assistant assist-ant to Commissioner Brady, and State Rep. James Brusatto, were given 10 days to inform the commission whether they would retain their positions as Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies or the second position. At a meeting in County Commission Com-mission chambers the commission commis-sion approved an opinion by1 the Salt Lake County Attorney that ruled that Commissioner Brady's leave of absence from sheriff's office "shall contniue during his candidacy." He is seeking reelection re-election to the county commission. commis-sion. Mr. Brady's period of candidacy candi-dacy continues until he is either elected or defeated. Extension of time for Mr. Browning and Rep. Brusatto to determine which position they will keep, was made on recommendation recom-mendation of J. Wallace West, commission chairman. Mr. Browning told the merit board he wants to obtain the opinion to determine if he may return to the sheriff's staff and serve another two months or more and ask for another leave as a deputy. Rep. Brusatto plans to seek a ruling from the attorney general whether he would be legally required re-quired to resign from his political politi-cal post now or wait until the end of his term. |
