Show Treasury Reports On Bond Sales December sales of Series E and H savings bonds in Utah amounted amount-ed to $1,570,635, bringing the total for the program's 20th anniversary an-niversary year to a record-breaking $19,513,020. according to sales reports received this week by Frank A. Wardlaw. Jr., Salt Lake County Bonds Chairman. "Utah's 1961 sales totaled $900,000 more than in 1960. and also reached a 14-year record for the state," Chairman Wardlaw stated. "Of these sales totals, Salt Lake County's share was $537,-854 $537,-854 for the month of December, or an aggregate of $7,842,554 for the year 1961. "National holdings of U.S. Savings Sav-ings Bonds are the highest in the program's 20-year history," he continued, "having reached more than $44 billion during the anniversary anni-versary year. "Throughout the anniversary year of 1961 the Savings Bonds program paid tribute to the legion of volunteers who helped the bond program become a part of every thrifty American's savings sav-ings plan over the 20-year period," per-iod," the chairman said. "No other nation has a comparable story where industry, labor, business, busi-ness, banking, educators, housewives, house-wives, clubs, civic and fraternal organizations and many others combined forces over the years to boost bond sales in their communities com-munities and states. Their contributions con-tributions are matched by news papers, television, radio, the motion mo-tion picture industry and outdoor out-door advertising, who all donate freely to aid Savings Bonds sales." |
