Show Three S.L. Students Win Art Honors Three Salt Lake area High School students won top honors in the recent Utah State High School Art contest held in Salt Lake City. Recipients of $100 scholarships presented by the Utah National Guard were Kathy Mitchell and Pamela Yates both of Olympus High, and Jette Knudson of Highland. These scholarships may be used at any school or college of their choice. Miss Mitchell won first place in the field of painting, Miss Yates in advertising, and Miss Knudson in graphic arts in the Utah National Guard division of the statewide contest, according to Maj. Gen. Maxwell E. Rich, Utah Adjutant General. Each year the Utah Guard donates don-ates four $100.00 scholarships and numerous lesser awards to encourage young artists to continue con-tinue their education and possibly pos-sibly take up art as a career. In addition to scholarships several sev-eral first and second place plaque 'awards and merit awards went to Salt Lake area artists in painting, paint-ing, sculpturing, graphic art and advertising. |
