Show designed to eliminate cruelties attendant upon traffic in baby chicks, ducklings, goslings and rabbits as pets; and WHEREAS, it was determined to be in the best interest of the people of Salt Lake County and to promote their best health and welfare that such an ordinance be enacted: 1 aJ,JS,HEREBY ORDAINED AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Title 4 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake County, State of Utah relating to police regulations be and the same is hereby amended by adding add-ing a new chapter to be known as Chapter 25 entitled "Animals and Fowl" and a new section in said chapter to be known as Section Sec-tion 4-25-1, relating to prohibited prohibit-ed possession and sale of young fowl and animals to read as follows: fol-lows: Section 4-25-1. Prohibited possession pos-session and sale of young fowl and animals, (a) It shall be unlawful un-lawful for any person to sell or offer for sale, raffle, offer or give as a prize, premium or advertising ad-vertising device, or display in any store, shop, carnival or other public place any live chick, duckling, gosling, other fowl or rabbit that has been dyed or otherwise artifically colored. (b) It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or offer to sell, raffle, offer or give as a prize, premium or advertising device any chicks, ducklings, goslings or other fowl younger than four (4) weeks of age in quantities of less than six (6) birds to an individual recipient. (c) It shall be unlawful for any person to offer chicks, ducklings, goslings or other fowl for sale, to raffle, to offer as prize, premium pre-mium or advertising device, or to display chicks, ducklings, goslings gos-lings or other fowl to the public without providing and operating brooders or other heating devices de-vices that may be necessary to maintain the chicks, ducklings, goslings or other fowl in good health and without keeping adequate ade-quate food and water available to the birds at all times. (d) Persons violating this Ordinance Or-dinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor mis-demeanor and a separate offense shall be deemed to be committed to each day an offense occurs or continues. Section 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake County, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt Lake County that this ordinance be enacted. Section 3. Should any section, ; clause or provision of this ordi- 1 ; nance be declared by the courts to be invalid, the same shall not affect the validity of the ordinance ordi-nance as a whole or any part thereof, other than the part so declared to be invalid. Section 4. That this ordinance shall become effective and in force on the 13th day of April, 1962, which is more than fifteen (15) days after its final passage and approval and upon its publication pub-lication in a newspaper of general gen-eral circulation within Salt Lake County.
