Show Utahn Has Meeting With Ag Secretary At the recent annual meeting of National Farmers Union, in Washington. D.C., Foster Reese, resident of the Utah Farmers Union met with Secretary of Agriculture Orville L. Freeman. Mr. Reese told the Secretary of Agriculture that he believed Mr. Freeman's move to strengthen the support price of milk and butterfat was a wise one. He also commended Secretary Freeman for this cautious approach. In backing the support program, pro-gram, Mr. Reese said that, although al-though the increase was not large and its effects may not be felt immediately, it will eventually event-ually mean thousands of dollars to the dairymen of Utah. Mr. Reese further commented, "It is heartening to see our prices moving up again. We, in Farmers Union, believe we should keep our production in line with our market needs and avoid creating large surpluses at the risk of breaking our price structure. We would caution our dairymen against any increase in production at this time." |
