Show County Officials Take Oath of Office During Ceremonies Before a group of some 75 persons gathered in Salt Lake County Commission chambers e new commissioner was sworn ir Monday, a re-elected commissioner commis-sioner took the oath of office and a new commission chairman was selected. Third District Judge A. H, Ellett administered the oath oJ office to Commissioner Edwin Q. Cannon, the Republican reelected re-elected to his second term, and naw commissioner C. W. (Buck) Brady, Democrat. The holdover Democratic commissioner, W. G. (Bill) Larson, was named chairman. chair-man. Commissioner Larson was nominated for the chairman post by Commissioner Cannon and the vote was unanimous. He is serving a four-year term with two years yet to run. County Clerk Alvin Kedding-ton Kedding-ton administered the oath to newly elected Third District Judge Marcellus K. Snow. Swearing-in ceremonies had been scheduled for Tuesday as Monday was a legal holiday. However, the county attorney's office informed the commission the law required county officials to take the oath of office on the first Monday of the new year. Shortly after the swearing-in ceremonies Commissioner Brady made his first appointment. He named John E. Hansen, 911 Gale St., to the job of custodian of the county side of the City and County Building. He replaces John C. (Mack) Pollock, a Republican Re-publican appointee who has held the job for 10 years. |
