Show Thiokol Reaches 4000 Utah Employee Total Employment totals will have reached 4000 persons at Thiokol Chemical Corporation in northern north-ern Utah as 1960 ends, general managers of the Utah Division predicted. John Higginson, Utah Division general manager, and Edward F. Nauman, Wasatch Division general gen-eral manager, said they were confident the 4000 mark would be reached before the new year started. In addition, several hundred persons are engaged in Thiokol projects as employees of contractors con-tractors and sub-contractors. At the huge solid propellant rocket engine facilities near the northeast tip of the Great Salt Lake and in offices and laboratories labora-tories at Brigham City and Tre-monton, Tre-monton, Thiokol is engaged in research, development and production pro-duction work .on the Air Force Minuteman intercontinental ballistic bal-listic missile, the Bomarc B, and the MatadorMace, in addition to a number of projects related to more advanced applications. The $30 million Thiokol-Air Force Plant 78 for production of the Minuteman first stage engine is being built by Thiokol's Wasatch Wa-satch Division adjacent to present pres-ent facilities at the northern part of the corporation's 14,000 acre property. The over-all growth pattern is expected to continue for some time. At present, there are employment em-ployment opportunities for a big variety of professional, technical and semi-skilled people. Another Thiokol establishment, establish-ment, the Rocket Operations, is located at Ogden. |
