Show U?ah Lions Clubs Plan S.L. Confab An estimtaed 2,000 Utah Lions and their guests are expected to attend the annual Midwinter Banquet scheduled for Monday, Jan. 30, at 7:00 p.m. at the Terrace Ter-race Ballroom. According to Marion W. Hal-liday Hal-liday of Provo, chairman, the banquet will be one of the highlights high-lights of the Utah Lion activities for the year. Tickets are available avail-able from Lion Club presidents throughout the state. Special guests will include state and local officials, Lion District governors and international interna-tional counsellors from surrounding surround-ing states. The special guest speaker from Lions International will be announced later, he said. Also scheduled in connection with the banquet will be a special spe-cial dinner meeting Sunday. Jan. 29, at 7:00 p.m. in honor of the Lions International speaker and wife. Attending will be state district governors, cabinet members, mem-bers, international counsellors, and banquet committee members and their wives. On Monday, Jan. 30, at noon a luncheon meeting will be conducted con-ducted by international counsellors counsel-lors for the guest speaker, district dis-trict governors, cabinet secretaries, secre-taries, deputy district governors and banquet committee member. Committee members for the annual Midwinter Banquet are: Dallas A. Greener, Gunnison; R. F. Breeze, Wendell L. Cottrell, Sherman B. Lowe, Salt Lake City; Dean K. Swaner, Farming-ton; Farming-ton; John E. Swanger, Murray; Kenneth O. Maughan, Logan; LeRoy Johnson, Provo; John T. Verniew. Richfield; Robert E. Brown, Ogden, and Bert Strand, Bountiful. Robert A. McAllister, apprentice appren-tice chief petty officer, USN, son of Mrs. Grace C. McAllister of 676 Hollywood Ave., graduated gradu-ated recently from nine weeks of Recruit Training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego, Cal. Apprentice petty officers are chosen from the-ranks of the seaman recruits to assist Company Com-pany Commanders. The selection is based on individual aptitude and leadership qualities. |
