Show Colorado Governor Named to Demo Committee Paul M. Butler, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Com-mittee, announced the appointment appoint-ment of Gov. Stephen L. R. Mc-Nichols Mc-Nichols of Colorado as a member of Democratic Advisory Council. In announcing the appointment Mr. Butler praised Governor Mc-Nichols Mc-Nichols as a "young, vigorous leader. His influential voice from the west can make a valuable contribution to the important work of the Council. As a member mem-ber of the Council he can help emphasize the party's interest in reclamation projects through his first hand knowldege and dedicated dedi-cated record on behalf of natural resources, as well as other issues and policies of our party." In his home state the governor last year appointed a 62 member state wide advisory committee on natural resource development. develop-ment. The 44-year old governor was elected chairman of the conference confer-ence on western governors for the year 1957. He served as Lt. Governor before his election in 1956; was elected to his first public office in 1948, the Colorado Colo-rado State Senate and re-elected in 1952. Born and educated in Denver, he graduated from Regis College in 1936 and received his degree in law at Catholic ' University, Washington, D.C., in 1939. He is a member of the bar of D. C. and Colorado. |
